Things don't go to plan.
Firstly temperatures plummeted in Oxfordshire last week not ideal for painting but we ingeniously sourced some oil radiators and made the spray booth mildly tepid to to hopefully help the paint go off a bit quicker.
New paint was ordered as we had run out of the Deep Bronze Green we had used for the previous spray up and a delay with the courier had us worried however at the eleventh hour on Friday it arrived a big relief. A very early start on Saturday masking up getting ready to spray went well, so as we started to stir the new paint which looked did look a bit different to the last batch but with closer inspection we discovered that the paint sent was Bronze Green and not Deep Bronze Green the wrong colour.(there is a difference we weren't just being pedantic) So with a fully prepped exterior waiting for it's final coat of paint we had no choice but to change its final colour to Bronze Green arghhhhh not ideal.
It turns out we love Bronze Green and now prefer it to the Deep Bronze Green we sprayed before so that's lucky however the finished interior is in you guessed it DBG so we are now gonna have to set a date in the spring when it's a bit warmer to respray that the same colour as the exterior. Despite the temperature the paint job looks pretty good and I am pleased with the finish not too peely and just a few runs less than the Olympics but nothing a bit of polishing won't sort out. It was just our luck though when with less than 2 minutes of spraying left to go on the roof the compressor packed up! Oh dear we said (or maybe something a bit more fruity like bother) an hour and a half later a compressor in bits and back together with no joy and a run half way around the village, twice, we managed to track down the farmer and borrow a compressor to finish the the job off phew! disaster averted. Have a look at the pics and let me know what you think of the new colour I think it looks great!
So busy busy we will be now as we aim for a November ish finish on this project loads to do mostly refitting cleaned up parts, replacing rubbers etc and a small spot of welding before the dreaded MOT.
All its new shiny Bronze Green Glory.
The engine bay looks much better but needs some touching up, the keen eyed amongst you will have spotted the different colour in the cab.
At least the rear tub interior and exterior match, the red and black strip you can see inside is believed to be a modification made from when this Landy was in the fire service we though we would keep it as a little folly.
